Peppered Strawberries

My son calls this dessert "Fire Strawberries" because it is flambéd at the end.

Serves 4

- 2 cups strawberries, sliced
- 3 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon cane sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon Grand Marnier (optional)

In a pan, melt butter, add sugar and spices and stir on medium until mixture is golden and bubbly.  Add strawberries and quickly stir to cover strawberries with hot syrup. Top with freshly ground black pepper.  Add optional Grand Marnier and flambé (touch the the Grand Marnier in the pan with a flame from a BBQ lighter.) The flames will evapourate in about 5 seconds.

Serve over vanilla ice cream.
